About Alexandria

Alexandria is Egypt's largest port city and second-largest city after Cairo. Situated on the Mediterranean coast, it forms a crucial link of the Egyptian economy. Throughout history, it has been famous for its Lighthouse of Alexandria and the Alexandria Library. The city's Kayit Bay Castle, the Lighthouse of Alexandria, the Alexandria Library, Maritime Museum, Al Hussein Bridge, National Museum, Royal Jewellery Museum, Kornis Region, and Montazah Palace are all worth a visit. Nightlife in Alexandri is very colourful. You can watch belly-dancing and enjoy different genres of live music. You can also take a tour around the city with a horse-drawn carriage.

In this touristic city there is an undeniable desert climate. Summers are hot and dry while winters are mild. You may prefer to visit in the winter or spring. The most pleasant and lively district of the city is located along the seafront and called Le Corniche. It is about 25 km long. All along the road are many pleasant cafes and restaurants. Freshly squeezed fruit juice and falafel are just some of the local dishes to try out.

Transportation is provided from the two airports in the city, Alexandria International Airport or the further Borg El Arab Airport. You can reach your destination by haggling with a taxi at the airport. You can use the dollar or the euro as currency for some transactions.
