About Bealanana
Bealanana is situated in the north of Madagascar, an island country in the Indian Ocean in the continent of Africa. Bealanana, one of the cities in the Sofia region and one of the few cities with an airport and higher education institutions in the country, is also 70 kilometers from Tsaratanana, one of the most important tourism centers in the country. Tourists who want to go to Tsaratanana, which hosts hundreds of streams, waterfalls, valleys, natural wildlife and endemic plants arrive at the area using Bealanana Airport.
The majority of the population in Bealanana, where fisheries do not have an important place because it is not one of the coastal towns of island country Madagascar, is engaged in agriculture. In the city with a population of 15 thousand, 90% of the population is engaged in agriculture. The most important products are rice and sugar cane. Livestock is also an economic activity in the city, although not common as agriculture. In this city without coast, tourism is not as lively as it is in coastal cities. The airport in Bealanana, which is mostly a stopover point, is the only airport that can be used to reach a few destinations. The airport, in the middle of touristic places like Helodrano Narinda Bay and Atalaha and the national parks of Tsaratanana, Marojejy and Manongarivo, is only open to domestic flights.
