About Kannur
Kannur or Cannanore is a lovely city on the Malabar Coast of Kerala state, located in southwestern India. Kannur International Airport (IATA: CNN) is located 28 kilometers from the Kannur city center, in the state of Kerala. Besides Kannur, this airport serves the North Malabar region and the Mahe district as well. There are several transportation options from the Kannur International Airport to the city center, such as buses, taxis, autorickshaws, hotel shuttles, and rental cars. Overall, the road and railway network of Kannur is good, so the best transportation method is a taxi or rented car, as you can either head to the city center, or to the railway station easily, which the railway is connected to the rest of India. Kannur airport has also an open parking lot with a capacity of up to 700 cars, 200 taxis, and 25 buses.
Bus
Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) operates buses from and to the Kannur Airport. Currently, the routes start operating from 05:00 to 20:00. Besides Kannur, there are routes to Iritty, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Thalassery, and other locations. Bus fares are INR 24 to Kannur city, but due to Covid-19 restrictions, the availability may vary.
Taxi
Taxis are the easiest, and perhaps the most luxurious option of transportation from Kannur International Airport to the city center and get around the city as well.
