About Zadar

Zadar, a peninsula surrounded by Adriatic Sea, is an ancient Mediterranean port city in the western part of Croatia. It used to be the capital of Dalmatia. Although not as touristy as Dubrovnik, it is a delightful place with historical monuments from the Middle Ages, cobbled streets, culture and natural beauty. Olive oils and wine are also famous!

St. Donat Church, the Cathedral of St. Anatasia, St Mary's Church, St Simon Church, Forum Square, city walls and gates, Grisogono Vovo Palace and Zadar University Building and Kalelarga Street are just some of the things that can be seen in the city. There are a lot more to see in this small city with 75 thousand inhabitants. Do not forget to visit the many natural beauties such as the Kornati Islands Park, Paklenica Park, Krka waterfall, Plitvice Lakes, Lake Vrana and Telascica Bay. You can visit these places with daily or half a day tours. In addition, many museums such as the Archaeological Museum, Antique Glass Museum, Salt Museum, City Museum are worth seeing. Zadar is also famous for its beaches.

You can enjoy the sea and the sun in many places like Borik Beach, Kolovare Beach, Uskok Beach, Punta Skala beach and Jadran. Zadar Airport is 9 kilometers from the city center and 10 kilometers from the main bus stop in the city. To get to the city center from the airport, you can use the airport shuttle, taxi or car rental companies. Buses departing from the International Terminal go to city center or to Zadar's main bus stop in 20 to 25 minutes. It might take a little shorter with taxi.
