About Iran

Iran is a large state located in Southwest Asia with a history dating back to around 4000 BC. The country stands out in the region for its extensive oil and natural gas resources and significant political and geopolitical position. Known for its caviar, handwoven silks, world-renowned Persian carpets, miniature painting, and ceramic craftsmanship, Iran has held a unique place in world culture and literature for centuries, producing notable writers, poets, and philosophers.
The country, spanning a vast geographical area, experiences diverse climatic conditions regionally. Generally, summers are hot, while winters bring harsh cold and heavy snowfall. Therefore, the most suitable times for tourist visits are spring and autumn. During a visit to Iran, there are many places to see, including Persepolis, Naqsh-e Jahan Square, Isfahan Music Museum, Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque, and Khaju Bridge. Exploring the colorful bazaars of each city and shopping are also activities that tourists enjoy.
Rich Iranian cuisine shares similarities with nearby and historic regions, including Caucasian cuisine, Central Asian cuisine, Greek cuisine, Levantine cuisine, Mesopotamian cuisine, Russian cuisine, and Turkish cuisine. One of the beloved dishes of the country, Persian pilaf, is among the must-try flavors for visitors. Another dish worth trying is rice-stuffed grape leaves, typically made with quail but can also be served with different meats such as lamb, chicken, or minced meat. Kebab varieties and syrupy desserts are quite popular across the country. In Iran, governed by Sharia laws, visitors should be aware of certain rules. Women must cover their hair in public, and in public transportation, separate turnstiles and doors are used for men and women. Taxis, however, don't have such distinctions.
