About Thiruvananthapuram

Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum) is Kerala state’s capital and the IT hub of India. Mahatma Gandhi describes the city as “the green city of India”. You can easily reach the city by direct flights to Trivandrum International Airport or by seasonal charter flights. The city’s rich history dates back to 1000 BC. It is home to many worth seeing treasures like fascinating palaces, and ancient temples, and its authentic streets are surrounded by coconut and palm trees. Thiruvananthapuram attracts tourists with its accommodation facilities, quality restaurants, and clean beaches.

The tropical climate is highly influential in the city. While the highest temperature is 34 degrees, the lowest temperature is around 20 degrees.  Citizens and visitors had to endure the city’s high humidity during the monsoon season, and experience heavy rains between April and November. The ideal time to both enjoy the beaches and visit the historical and natural beauties in Thiruvananthapuram is between October and February. You can take advantage of automatic rickshaws/taxis or Rent a scooter or bike to visit the city of 1,680,000 million people with a dense and complex traffic pattern.

Popular tourist destinations of the city can be listed as; firstly an ancient treasure, Kanaka Kunnu Palace. Then visitors should visit the Kowdiar Palace, the official residence of the royal family. If you are fun of music and partying, Kuthiramalika Palace where music festivals are held should be your next stop. In the Palace Museum, you can see many personal belongings of the royal families. If you are visiting the city with your children, popular routes include Priyadarshini Space Planetarium, one of the largest planetariums in India; the Zoological Park, which was opened in 1843 and designed as a palace; and the Chacha Nehru Children's Museum, where local toys are exhibited.

The richest temple in the world and symbol of Thiruvananthapuram, Sri Padmanabhaswamy Temple is a must-see for those who want to explore Indian culture as the temple has hundreds of columns decorated with impressive sculptures, ancient temples, and painting collections.

You can cool off in the hot summer months away 17 kilometers from the city at Kovalam Beach. Another popular cooling-off place in the city is Shanghumukham Beach with its gigantic mermaid statue. And of course, taste Indian cuisine at the food carts around the beaches.
