Transportation to Airport from Madrid City Center

Adolfo Suarez Madrid Barajas - Madrid Barajas Airport

The Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas Airport, also referred to as Madrid-Barajas Airport, is located 12 km from Madrid’s city center. The airport is very easily accessible by taxi, rental car, and public transportation. Taking the train and metro are both convenient and quick transportation alternatives to access Madrid-Barajas Airport.

Rail

To get to the airport by metro from the city center you have to take metro line 8. This line starts from the Nuevos Ministerios Station and provides transportation to every terminal at the airport. This line takes between 12 and 15 minutes to reach the airport. The RENFRE train C1 line, which you can access from the Chamartin, Nuevos Ministerios, Atocha and Principe Pio stations, provides transportation to Terminal 4. The total trip time will vary depending on your location and which station you get on from. It takes 11 minutes to get to the airport from Chamartin and 38 minutes to get to the airport from Principe Pio.

Bus

Airport Express buses are another transportation alternative. These Airport Express buses depart from the Atocha Station. You can access Atocha Station from your location in the city using a different bus line or metro line. Airport Information

Located 12 km from the city center,  Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas Airport, also referred to as Madrid-Barajas Airport, is the main airport in Madrid, serving both international and domestic flights. Madrid-Barajas Airport consists of 4 terminals, Terminal 1, Terminal 2, Terminal 3, and Terminal 4, which was built in 2006. Terminal 4 is the largest terminal in the airport and operates flights for many major airlines such as Turkish Airlines and American Airlines. It is an impressive structure with modern architecture that also features a satellite building, TS4. Terminal 1 is the airport’s oldest building and another major terminal. Many airlines take off and land at Terminal 1. Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 are smaller in comparison to the others. Terminal 3 is dedicated to flights operated by Lagun Air. There is an airport shuttle bus that runs 24 hours a day, providing inter-terminal transportation.

Internet at the airport is free for the first 15 minutes. In Terminal 4 you can connect to the internet by paying a fee. In Terminal 1, Terminal 2, and Terminal 3 you can connect to the internet in the departure lounges, VIP lounges, and restaurant area.

There are various VIP lounges located at the airport. The La Revoltosa and Premium lounges at Terminal 4, La Revoltosa lounge in Terminal 4S, Cibeles lounge in Terminal 1, Puerta de Alcala lounge in Terminal 2, and Puerto del Sol lounge in Terminal 3 are accessible for those with a Priority Pass card. Apart from those there are 3 VIP lounges in Terminal 4 belonging to Iberia Airlines. Madrid-Barajas Airport offers passengers a rich variety of stores where they can go shopping. Transportation to Yerevan City Center from Airport

Zvartnots Intl. Airport

Yerevan Airport, which is also officially known as Zvartnos Airport, is located 12 kilometers west of Yerevan. In addition to the short distance, it is very easy and cheap to get to the city center from the airport. You can choose from various options such as bus, metro, marshrutka, taxi, airport transfer services and rental car services in order to reach the city from Zvartnots Airport.

Bus

In Yerevan, buses and the minibuses called marshrutka run as coordinated with each other. Therefore, it is possible to transfer to buses and minibuses to reach a certain point in the city.

The buses in Yerevan are modern, fast and quite economical for transportation. It is possible to reach every point of the city by bus because there are a lot of routes. It takes about 20-25 minutes to go to the city center and also to many points in the city from Zvartnots Airport by bus. When you leave the airport, turn right and move towards Stepanakert park area; there you will see the bus stops. Many bus lines (with different numbers) leave from this area. Bus departure times vary by line number.

You are charged for your baggage as extra while paying the ticket price for the buses you will take from the airport. The bus number 18 that you will take at the airport passes through the main railway station of Yerevan. This station is also connected to the metro network of the city. Tigran Mets av., Khanjyan st., Abovyan st., and Yeritasardakan are some of the stops of this the bus number 18.

If you want to go to Opera House, which is another important place of Yerevan, you need to get on the bus N107. Ticket price per passenger costs 0.70 dollar according to the current tariff. The bus N108 takes you directly to the city center by following a different route, which takes about 20 minutes. The bus N201 run between the airport and the streets of Mashtots and Sayat Nova in Yerevan.

Marshrutka (Minibus)

In Yerevan, the minibuses called marshrutka are preferred as much as the buses. Because, the routes of the minibuses are longer and they provide transportation to the places even where the buses cannot reach. In addition to being the most preferred public transportation option in Yerevan, the marshrutka minibuses can stop at the bus stops and at any point you wish.

You can buy marshrutka tickets from the driver after getting on the minibus. When you want to get off the minibus, the driver will drop you off if you say "kangnek". After leaving the arrival terminal of Zvartnots Airport, you can see the marshrutka minibuses that are in the parking area on the right.

One-way boarding fee for the minibus number 18, which departs every 20 minutes and has services between the airport and Abovyan Street, is 250 AMD (Armenian Dram) according to 2014 tariff. The main stops of minibuses on line 18 are Sasuntsi Davit (metro station) and Rossiya Mall. However, you need to pay extra 100 Dram for your luggage to board these minibuses.

Metro

Yerevan Metro, which is clean, safe and fast and also plays a major role in urban transportation, reaches every point of the city, even if it has onle a single line. The metro departs every 5 minutes and you need to pay 100 dram to board the metro. Barekamuyun, Marshall Baghramyan, Yeritasardakan, Republic Square (Hanrapetutyan Hraparak), Zoravar Andranik, Surp Grigor Lusavorich Katedralinin / Rossiya Mall and Sasunti David are the main stations of the metro, which has been in service since 1981. Yerevan metro has a total of 10 stops with a single line of 13.4-km length.

The metro serves between 6:30 am and 11 pm every day of the week and it is connected to the main bus station and the railway station as well. The busiest metro station is the Hanrapetutyan Hraparak station next to Republic Square, which is the center of Yerevan. Yeritasardakan, which is very close to the Opera House that is another central point, and Zoraver Andranik opposite the cathedral are also another practical metro stations.

The Sassountsi David area, where the Yerevan railway station is located, is also connected to the metro network and so transportation becomes easy to a great extent. The boarding fee has been fixed for years; it is possible to buy tickets from the stations by paying 100 Drams.

Taxi

Taking a taxi from Zvartnots Airport to the city center costs about 3500-4200 drams. However, the taxi fare may go up to 6700 drams depending on the distance from the airport to your destination. Before boarding the taxi, try to bargain with the taxi driver. The distance between the airport and the city center is nearly 13 kilometers and taxi fare costs 3000 drams maximum. Don't rely on the taxi drivers who demand more than this fare and get a cheaper one.

Going to the city from the airport by taxi takes about 15-20 minutes. The Aero taxis, which are the transportation service run by Zvartnots Airport, are the most known taxi service that you can book a taxi online or by phone. The Aero taxis, which serve as a service provided by the airport, provide transportation between the airport and the place you want to go or leave. So, it is not possible to hail these taxis in the city.

The airport taxis apply a different but fixed fare for each route from the airport or that passes through the airport. Aero taxis, which have in service since 2010, provide transportation service for the visitors coming to the city to a large extent. These taxis are frequently preferred for transportation between the airport and the city thanks to its luxury furnishing, comfort and being available almost for the same price as other taxis. Rent a car

The fact that Yerevan has a developed urban transportation and has a variety of public transportation options as well as the high-speed trains from Yerevan to other cities outweighs the car rental services to a large extent. Those who have arrived in Yerevan can see a number of public transportation vehicles ready to depart, such as metro, minibuses and buses when they step outside the airport. However, apart from this, those who want to travel by car throughout their stay in Yerevan can rent a car from one of the world-famous car rental companies at Zvartnots Airport.
