Munich Airport

Located about 30 km from the city center Munich Airport is a major international airport operating both domestic and international flights. There are several transportation alternatives available to get to the airport from the city center. The airport is accessible by train, bus, and rental car. Munich Airport also contains indoor and outdoor parking lots that offer short-term or long-term parking options, so driving your personal car is another alternative.  

Train

There is a rail system in place that provides transportation from the city center directly to Munich Airport. Trains depart every 10 minutes and provide transportation to terminals 1 and 2. The S1 train line connects Neufahrn, Moosach, Laim, Munich Hauptbahnhof, Marienplatz and Ostbahnhof with the airport and the S8 train line connects Ostbahnhof, Isartor, Marienplatz, Karlsplatz/Stachus, Hauptbahnhof, Laim and Pasing and Herrsching with the airport. For both lines the total trip from the furthest point on the line to the airport takes about 50 minutes.

Transportation to Hamburg City Center from Airport

Hamburg Airport

The transportation from Hamburg International Airport, which is 8 km away from Hamburg city center, is provided by taxis, buses and suburban trains. If you wish, you can easily reach the city center by renting a car at the airport.

Train

This is the most preferred transportation alternative. Hamburg Airport is connected to the city with S-bahn, S1 Suburban railway network. It takes 30 minutes to reach the city by using this line. Trains depart every 10 minutes. You can get on the train line S1 from the airport, get off at Ohlsdorf station, take the line U1 and reach the city center.

Bus

Another option that you can use on this route is bus. Hamburg has a developed public transportation system. Buses usually depart every hour. The buses called "Nachtbus" offer service at nights. To get to the city from the airport, you need to take the bus route 606.

Taxi

Taxi is also among the ideal options for traveling to the city center. Taxis can be preferred especially if you are not familiar with the city or if you have heavy luggage. You can reach your destination in about 30 minutes by taking a taxi from the airport. The taxi fare that you will pay will be around 35 Euro.
