About Oakland

Located in the state of California in the United States America, Oakland is one of the most important trade, finance and tourism centers in the region. Situated on the shores of the San Francisco Bay, the city is connected with bridges to San Francisco, which is among the largest metropolises in the USA and in the world. The city was named "Oakland" because of many Oak Trees in the city.

The population of the city, which averages to more than 400 thousand people, consists of the Americans as well as the immigrants from almost every part of the world, especially the Spaniards. Oakland, which is the third largest city in the San Francisco Bay Area and the eighth largest city in California, is also known for its sustainability initiatives. In Oakland, renewable resources are used in many areas, mainly electricity production.

With its mild climate that is effective throughout the year, there are great places to see in Oakland, which offers an ideal environment for travel in all seasons.  At the top of these places is the Jack London Square, which has been named after the famous writer and presents a wonderful city view. The Oakland Museum, where you can see some of the most remarkable works of the city and the state, should be especially seen by art enthusiasts. The Redwood National and State Park, which is located just outside the city,  is a unique place to visit with its world-famous Sequoia (Redwood) trees and peaceful atmosphere.

In Oakland, you can also visit the Oakland Zoo, which is located on a wide open area where you can have a great time full of fun, especially with young children. The park, which is home to more than 600 animal species, is one of the world's most famous alternatives in this respect. If you like roses, the Oakland Rose Garden in the city also offers mesmerizing scenes, especially during spring and summer.
