About Türkiye

Türkiye, officially known as the Republic of Türkiye, spans a vast territory from Asia to Europe. It is situated in the southwestern part of the Asian continent and stretches through the Anatolian Peninsula and a portion of Thrace, bordering the Mediterranean Sea, the Aegean Sea (an extension of the Mediterranean), and the Black Sea.
Türkiye shares borders with Greece, Bulgaria, Georgia, Iran, Nakhchivan (an autonomous region of Azerbaijan), Armenia, Iraq, and Syria. Positioned at the crossroads of Asia and Europe, Türkiye has a rich history influenced by various cultures and civilizations, including the Ionians, Persians, Romans, Byzantines, Seljuks, and Ottomans. Today, traces of this cultural diversity are still evident.
The capital of Türkiye is Ankara, and the official language is Turkish. The country has a population of approximately 84 million, with a significant portion being of Turkish origin and Muslim faith. There are also small communities of Christians and Jews, particularly in major cities. The Fener Greek Patriarchate in Istanbul is considered a significant center, especially for Orthodox communities in Türkiye and neighboring countries.
Due to its vast geographical expanse, Türkiye exhibits diverse climate types in different regions. The coastal areas along the Mediterranean and Aegean have a Mediterranean Climate, the Black Sea coastline experiences a Black Sea Climate, and Central Anatolia and Eastern Anatolian regions have a Terrestrial Climate. Generally, winters are cool and rainy, while summers are hot and dry. Spring and autumn bring rain to many parts of Türkiye. If you plan to visit during these seasons, you should carry an umbrella.
Türkiye boasts a variety of attractions across its regions. Some must-visit cities include Istanbul, Ankara, and coastal cities like Izmir and Antalya, known for their splendid beaches. In Istanbul, popular tourist spots include Topkapi Palace, Dolmabahçe Palace, Galata Tower, and districts like Beyoğlu, Sultanahmet, Eminönü, and the Grand Bazaar.
In Ankara, you can visit Anıtkabir, the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, as well as the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations, Ankara Castle, and Atakule for panoramic views of the city. Along the Aegean coast, Izmir and its surroundings offer attractions such as Alsancak and Karşıyaka coastal districts, the Historical Elevator, Balçova, and popular holiday destinations like Çeşme, Alaçatı, and Ilıca.
Türkiye is an ideal year-round destination. During the summer, you can enjoy sunny weather and crystal-clear beaches in destinations like Bodrum, Fethiye, and Ayvalık. During winter, famous ski resorts like Uludağ, Palandöken, and Erciyes are ideal for winter sports enthusiasts.
